So, first of all, I want to say I'm really proud of everyone - Anna, the cast & the crew - because they all worked super hard on this movie.
About the movie itself: it's definitely different from the books because it's an adaptation, not a copy of it. The author wrote the story years ago and so they wanted to adjust it to today's audience. I think the movie was beautifully recorded and the cast was amazing (I loved everyone's performance) I just think it's a shame that it was so rushed but it's understandable since the book is huge. I think if they had more time the progress of their relationship could've been told better/slower.
About Hardin being soft in the movie (since I know it's an aspect that bothers a lot of people that read the books) it's impossible to show the complexity of his character in such short time. If you read the books, you're familiar with his attitude but that wouldn't just work on the big screen because people (who don't know the story) wouldn't understand the reason behind it. One thing is having hundreds of pages, other is having 1h46 where you have to focus on other things as well... so it was easier to just make him "soft. I think they might explore Hardin's character in a possible sequel so keep in mind this is like a presentation of who these characters are and how they all got together.
Watch the movie with an open mind and try to understand the reason they had to make those changes. Think of it as another way of telling the story. Let's hope for a sequel because I think it might have a lot of potential and maybe do more justice to what we want to see in it.
Overall I enjoyed it. They kept the essence of the story, there's not only scenes from the book but also new ones, which is something I liked. And that's pretty much it. I have intentions of watching the movie once more to analyse it better and I'm looking forward to the sequel.
